Eau Claire Fire Department responded to 2507 S Hastings Way, the Maple Manor Motel, for a report of a structure fire. Initial information given by the 911 caller was smoke was billowing out of a room.
Upon arrival, Engine 6 reported smoke coming from room 119. They deployed an attack like and were able to quickly extinguish the fire, containing it to room 119. Additional crews on scene assisted with evacuation and search of the adjacent rooms. Crews then performed an overhaul of the fire room to ensure there were no hot spots and that the fire had been completely extinguished. An ECFD inspector responded to conduct a cause and origin investigation.
One individual on scene was evaluated for smoke inhalation which did not require transport and they were treated on scene.
