Rate Hike Talks Heat Up News | October 9, 2023 | 0 | by Morgan McCarthy State regulators are starting the process to see if We Energies can charge more for electricity and natural gas with a hearing today. The state’s Public Service Commission is hearing a proposal from We Energies to raise electric costs three-percent, and raise natural gas costs between three- and five-percent. The electric rate increase request comes after an increase last year, and would mean We Energies has seen a 14-and-a-half-percent increase in prices over the past two years. We Energies says it needs to raise rates to modernize its infrastructure, and to pay for the switch to green energy.
