Jacob Blake is suing the city of Kenosha and its police department, again.
Blake’s attorneys filed the suit on Wednesday, which was the third anniversary of his shooting. The new lawsuit alleges excessive force, failure to protect, failure to train the officer who shot him, and a denial of equal protection.
A judge last year dismissed Blake’s first lawsuit against Kenosha.
Investigators say Blake was carrying a knife and fighting with police officers while trying to steal a car when an officer shot him in August of 2020. That shooting touched off days of protests and riots in Kenosha that ended with parts of the city destroyed, and with the Kyle Rittenhouse shootings.
