There is a push for a new trial in a Chippewa Valley murder case.
Ezra McCandless was back in court yesterday, fighting to get her life sentence overturned. McCandless stabbed her ex-boyfriend Alex Woodworth 16 times back in 2019. She was convicted in 2020, and sentenced to life behind bars. McCandless’ attorneys now say there is evidence that she was sexually abused, and that evidence was never admitted at trial. The judge in the case isn’t expected to rule on the request until later this year, likely November.
