Marshfield’s Compost Site Set to Close Temporarily

The compost site located at 501 South Hume Avenue, Marshfield, will be closed for approximately two days, Thursday, June 8 through Friday, June 9, to allow for the construction of an additional road inside the site to allow better access for patrons to dump compost material at the site. The site will be open this weekend (June 10-11), but may close on Monday, June 12, if the project needs to be finished.

The site is typically open 24 hours a day/7 days a week, and Marshfield residents may be required to provide proof of residency. Contractors can use the site only during regular business hours and must
use the scale before dumping.

Only brush and yard waste is to be disposed of in the area, and no trash, bulk items, lumber, or concrete, and no brush larger than 8” in diameter is allowed. Also, please don’t mix yard waste and brush at the site, and in-addition yard waste should not be disposed of in plastic bags.

Please remember that the City of Marshfield and Waste Management no longer offers curbside collection of yard waste, brush, and branches as of January 1, 2023. Bulky items are free of charge for Marshfield residents to drop off at the Waste Management Transfer Station, also located at 501 South Hume Avenue. The Transfer Station is open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Mondays and from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Tuesdays through Fridays. Bulky items include mattresses, box springs, sofas, furniture, bicycles, carpets, toilets, and other items. Electronics, appliances, and construction waste may also be dropped off at the transfer station for a fee.
