Push for Public Pricing at Capitol

Push for Public Pricing at Capitol

There’s a push to help people in Wisconsin shop for health care.

Several Republican lawmakers, along with the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce yesterday introduced a plan that would push hospitals in the state to make their prices public. The proposed-law would require hospitals to publish a list of prices for common services, so people can shop for the best price. State Senator Mary Felzkowski says there’s already a federal rule that requires something similar, but she says it’s not working. She hopes that by letting people know the price of non-emergency treatment ahead of time, people can look for the best bargain, and save some money.
