There will be something new in the skies above Madison starting today.
The Air National Guard says the first F-35 fighter jets are due to arrive at Truax Field sometime today. In all, Madison’s 115th Fighter Wing will get 20 F-35 jets over the next year. They are replacing Madison’s current group of F-15 fighters. Many local leaders didn’t want the jets to come to town, and even tried to stop their transfer. Guard commanders say the new jets will ensure Truax Field’s future for years to come.
