Representative Mike Gallagher says last week’s testimony from TikTok’s CEO has “increased the likelihood that Congress will take some action.
Appearing on ABC’s This Week alongside Illinois Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi, the Wisconsin Republican said national security concerns surrounding the widely popular Chinese-owned video app have united Democrats and Republicans. Krishnamoorthi said the hearing didn’t do TikTok any favors and didn’t seemed fazed when asked about potential political fallout from a ban given its popularity among young people. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy also tweeted Sunday that the House would be “moving forward with legislation” targeting the platform.
