Governor Tony Evers’ budget would mean a net tax increase of over 100-million-dollars for Wisconsin.
A new report from the Legislative Fiscal Bureau says despite the governor’s promise of tax cuts, his budget would substantially raise taxes and fees. The report says Evers’ one-and-a-half billion-dollars in tax cuts for mostly low and moderate income families would be offset by a wave of new taxes and fees on businesses and investors. Republican lawmakers have been promising for months to ignore the governor’s budget proposal and come-up with their own spending plan.
