Altoona has the gear to start taking sand out of its lake.
A new bed load sediment collector arrived this week. The collector does just what its name suggests, it clears sediment out of the water. All of the gear cost just one dollar because the city of Cleveland couldn’t make it work for them. Altoona says it needs to remove tons of sand from Lake Altoona in order to keep the lake in good shape.
