Half of Governor Evers’ building projects would be at UW campuses.
The governor yesterday unveiled a nearly four billion-dollar construction package for the state. Just under two billion-dollars of that would go for new buildings on UW campuses across the state. The governor also wants to spend more on fiberoptic upgrades at the State Capitol, and build a new Wisconsin History Museum. Governor Evers would pay for the building boom by tapping into Wisconsin’s record budget surplus. Republican lawmakers, however, are eyeing that surplus to cover the cost of tax reforms.
