The man charged with last week’s killing in Iowa County says the gun just went off.
Investigators say 34-year-old Timothy Sontic told them the gun went off when he picked it up. Deputies who responded to the shooting last Saturday in the town of Wyoming say Sontic was drunk at the time. The woman who was wounded was rushed to the hospital, but died on Monday. Prosecutors have filed homicide by intoxicated use of a firearm charges in the case.
