The Grass is Greener…And Longer

The Grass is Greener…And Longer

Eau Claire is joining the No Mow May movement.

The city council last night changed the city’s rule for mowing lawns, pushing back the start date for a grass-height requirement til June, to allow people to grow-out their yards to help bees and other pollinators. Councilman Joshua Miller, who is a former beekeeper, drove the idea.  He says Eau Claire should set an example for communities to encourage pollinators to thrive in the spring.

Eau Claire will continue to require people to keep their grass shorter than seven inches, but that requirement will now start in June as opposed to April.
