City leaders in Madison are trying to get a plan on paper for a possible Amtrak station.
The city yesterday asked for public input on where a new station should be built. Madison could get an Amtrak line, but only if city, state, and federal leaders can agree. Madison is suggesting five station locations: one near the airport, one near the old Oscar Meyer plant, one off East Washington, one on the east side, one downtown, and the final option near the UW Campus.
