New Reminders For Old Man Winter

New Reminders For Old Man Winter

As our temperatures drop below freezing and the occasional snowflake falls from the sky, we encourage all Eau Claire County residents to review their winter weather preparedness. The week of November 14-18 is Winter Weather Awareness Week across all of Wisconsin.

Over the next week, emergency management will be doing a social media campaign on this topic, with posts that include dressing for extreme temperatures, winter weather outlook, weather alerts and our Rave emergency notification system, carbon monoxide, and road and pet safety. While this campaign is ongoing, we also encourage everyone to check critical items like their cars, tires, chimneys, and furnaces to make sure they are working correctly.

On average, Eau Claire County has about thirty days with high temperatures that don’t exceed zero degrees and more than four feet of snow during the entire winter season. The early forecast for the 2022-2023 winter is for below average temperatures and equal chances for higher, average, or below average snowfall.
