Following the unexpected death of Sheriff Ron Cramer on Tuesday, September 13, 2022; Undersheriff Cory Schalinske assumes the position of Sheriff until the upcoming election or appointment by the Governor.
Schalinske is seasoned law enforcement professional who spent 10 years with the Fall Creek Police Department, including service as the Chief of Police. He then began working for Eau Claire County in 2012 as Sergeant, being promoted to Lieutenant, then Captain and Undersheriff. Schalinske, along with Jail Captain Dave Riewestahl and the law enforcement team in the Sheriff’s Office have established command, and service will continue as normal.
