La Crosse’s proposed ban on conversion therapy may end with a lawsuit.
The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty yesterday sent a letter to La Crosse’s city council promising a suit if the ordinance is not repealed. In June, La Crosse banned conversion therapy, which is talking to people about their sexuality, because many LGBTQ groups say its harmful. WILL says the ban violates the First Amendment, and puts the city in the position of deciding who can say what on one of the most debated issues of the day.
La Crosse is reworking the ordinance currently. It’s unclear what the city council will do next.
