Coming out of the voting booth we know what your fall ballot will look like.
It will be Tim Michels and Tony Evers in November.
Michels yesterday easily beat Rebecca Kleefisch to win the Republican nomination for governor. Michels won by about 35 thousand votes, and outperformed Kleefisch across almost the entire state. Michels says his goal is to replace Governor Evers, who he says has failed the state. Evers last night called Michels ‘the most divisive and extreme candidate’ in the Republican race.
Looking at other races, yesterday’s primary set the field for Wisconsin’s November election.
Mandela Barnes won the Democratic race for U.S. Senate and will take on Republican Ron Johnson.
Fond du lac County D.A. Eric Toney won the Republican race for attorney general and will take on Democrat Josh Kaul.
It will be Democrat Sara Rodriguez and Republican Roger Roth in the race for Lt. Governor, and Democrat Doug La Follette and Republican Amy Loudenback in the race for secretary of state.
Voters also decided races for the State Assembly. State Senate, Congress, and a handful of ballot questions.
Locally, the race for Congress in western Wisconsin is set. State Senator Brad Pfaff won yesterday’s Democratic primary. He will take on Republican Derrick Van Orden in November.
The race will be one of Wisconsin’s biggest as national groups are expected to fight to replace Ron Kind in Congress. Democrats want to keep the seat, but Republicans think western Wisconsin is ripe to flip.
