A group of Wisconsin Boy Scouts are being hailed as heroes for helping victims after an Amtrak train hit a dump truck and derailed in Missouri. Three passengers died as well as the dump truck driver whom one scout stayed with as he passed away.
The Boy Scout Troop was coming back from a backpacking trip in New Mexico when the accident occurred at a public crossing on Monday in the city of Mendon, which is about 100 miles northeast of Kansas City.

Survivors described the chaos aboard as they struggled to escape the overturned train, but the Boy Scouts jumped in right away to help those in need. Around 275 passengers were aboard the train as it headed toward Chicago from Los Angeles. One Scout and three adult leaders were hospitalized.
Boy Scout dad, Matt Schultz, credited the group for their heroics.
