WI School District Drops Investigation

A school district drops its investigation into the alleged misuse of personal pronouns by some students.

On Friday the Kiel Area School District said it closed its investigation into three middle school students’ alleged refusal to use “they” when referring to fellow students who prefer that pronoun rather than he or she.  The district was looking into whether the students had violated Title IX sexual harassment policy.

The accused’s attorneys at Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty say the district made the right choice to drop the case.  The attorneys say the accused students’ speech is protected under the First Amendment and the District needs to “ensure that the Title IX sexual harassment complaints are removed from the boys’ academic records.”
