Polls Close, Election Results Unfold

The ballots are counted and we now get a peek into the political future around the Valley.

The Eau Claire School board race was closely watched and the seats around the meeting table will email largely the same.

Challengers Nicole Everson, Melissa Winter, and Corey Cronrath trailed at the end of vote counting last night. Incumbents Tim Nordin and Marquell Johnson appear to have come out on top.

In some of the bigger races across our state, Milwaukee has a new mayor for the first time in nearly 20 years. Acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson last night, unsurprisingly, won the election to serve out the final two years for former Mayor Tom Barrett’s term.

Johnson overwhelmed opponent Bob Donovan by more than 37 thousand votes. Johnson is now the first black man ever elected as mayor in Milwaukee. Johnson told supporters at his victory party last night that he ‘has a lot to do’ as mayor.
