About 150 Wisconsin National Guard troops are now certified nursing assistants.
The troops graduated this week. They were called-up and sent to training during the worst of Wisconsin’s omicron spike. The troops were supposed to go to hospitals and long term care centers across the state to help overwhelmed staffers there. But as of Thursday, there are just 316 people in the hospital with the coronavirus across the state, and 60 in the ICU.
Guard commanders yesterday said some of the troops will still be sent on their hospital-aid missions.
