Republican lawmakers in Wisconsin are looking to challenge the state’s new political map in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Republicans filed their challenge to the map on Friday, just one day after the Wisconsin Supreme Court decided to go with a map drawn by Gov. Tony Evers. Conservative justices on the Wisconsin Supreme Court say the map segregates voters by race, which is not allowed under the federal Voting Rights Act. Republicans at the Capitol are asking the state court to hold-off on implementing the new map until they get word from the U.S. Supreme Court.
