It was a busy weekend for rescue crews in Winnebago County.
The sheriff’s office says they had to pull at least 25 people off the ice on Lake Winnebago, Lake Poygan and Lake Butte des Morts between Friday night and Saturday morning. Friday night’s blizzard-like conditions are getting some of the blame. Deputies say fishermen couldn’t see where they were going.
At least eight vehicles either went into the water or had to be towed out. There are no reports of any serious injuries.
