It is now against the law in Wisconsin to destroy vaccine doses.
Governor Evers on Friday signed a law that bans the ‘intentional destruction’ of vaccine doses, and makes it a felony. The law came about after a Milwaukee-area pharmacist left hundreds of doses of the coronavirus vaccine out to spoil back in December of 2020. Local prosecutors originally had to file misdemeanor attempted destruction of property charges because Wisconsin law was silent about vaccine destruction. Federal prosecutors stepped-in and charged the pharmacist with tampering with a consumer product. He pleaded guilty and is now serving three years in prison.
