Lawmakers Look to Ban “Zuckerbucks”

Voters could soon decide if outside groups should be able to give local election offices in Wisconsin millions of dollars.

Republicans at the Capitol are pushing a constitutional amendment that would ban the so-called Zuckerbucks.  Those are the donations from the Mark Zuckerberg-funded Center for Tech and Civic Life that played a role in the 2020 election.  The group spent nine million-dollars in Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Racine, and Kenosha. Republicans say the group all but took over the election operation in Green Bay.

By pushing the ban as a constitutional amendment, Governor Tony Evers cannot kill the plan on his own.
