On Sunday, January 30th at approximately 4:20 PM, A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for a seatbelt and speeding violation on Interstate 94 eastbound at milepost 32 near Knapp.
The Trooper observed that the driver, 38 year old Louis Williams, showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Mr. Williams was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. He was subsequently arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance while having a child passenger in the vehicle and possession of marijuana.
The 12-year-old passenger was left in the care of a family friend that was in the vehicle.
