Chip Shortage Leads to Bumpy Road Ahead for WI D.O.T

A worldwide shortage of microchip technology is the reason for a delayed rollout of the Beltline flex lanes.

So say Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials.  Yesterday the DOT said the signage for the new lanes includes digital displays that use computer chips which are a scarce commodity at this time.  As a result, the new lanes on the road between Whitney Way and I-39/30 won’t open for the public’s use until sometime next summer.
