There won’t be a trial for the young man who started shooting inside the Fox Valley Mall earlier this year.
Lawyers for 18-year-old Dezman Ellis say he pleaded no contest in the case. The plea means Ellis will be looking at 40 years in prison instead of a life sentence. Ellis shot and killed 19-year-old Jovanni Frausto following a fight at the mall in late January. He wounded a second person with a stray bullet. Ellis fled and touched-off a statewide manhunt. He’s due to be sentenced in February.
