WI COVID-19 Snapshot: Vaccines Available for Kids, Cases Continue to Fall

Eau Claire’s public health boss says they’re going to start with 600 vaccine doses for younger kids and see where things go.

City-county health director Lieske Giese yesterday said they are getting ready to vaccinate kids between five and eleven-years-old. The federal government is expected to approve the shots today or tomorrow, and Giese says they could start putting shots in arms after that. Giese says there are about eight thousand kids between five and eleven in Eau Claire County.

Overall, Wisconsin’s coronavirus count is falling.

The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said just four counties, Burnett, Richland, Florence, and Marinette have critically high case activity. Three counties in the state, Dane, Rock, and Kenosha have been downgraded to just high case activity. The rest of the state is where it’s been for months with very high activity.
