The latest plan from Eau Claire County leaders is to cut the number of new hires at the Department of Human Services in half.
County supervisor on Friday voted to hire just six new people for the department, as opposed to the 12 that County Administrator Kathryn Schauf suggested. Supervisors say there was just too much overlap with the 12 new hires. Hiring just six new workers would also save the county money.
