Probation and Fine for Man With Laser

Probation and Fine for Man With Laser

A Milwaukee man will not be going to jail for pointing a laser pointer at a Wisconsin National Guard helicopter during last summer’s unrest in the city.

Jeremiah Belen apologized to the judge on Friday, and he said he pointed the laser at the chopper out of boredom. The National Guard worked with Milwaukee Police to find whoever was using the pointer last year. They quickly narrowed-in on Belen. He could have been sentenced to five years in prison, but the judge let him go with probation and an eight-thousand-dollar fine from the FAA.
