Water Rescue in The Eau Claire River

Water Rescue in The Eau Claire River

The Eau Claire Fire Department (ECFD) responded for a report of an overturned kayak with someone possibly in
the water.

First arriving fire crews and several Eau Claire Police Department (ECPD) personnel discovered one victim in distress in the Eau Claire river, East of the Dewey St. bridge, near the South bank of the river. Due to a steep embankment, additional fire department personnel assisted in rigging a rope system for victim removal. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

River conditions are unpredictable and vary considerably from one section to another. Numerous hazards exist
throughout the Eau Claire and Chippewa rivers.
