Longtime WI Broadcaster Dies in Crash

A longtime Wisconsin broadcaster has died.

Sixty-one-year-old Gene Purcell was killed in a motorcycle crash in Madison last week.  Purcell was the director of Wisconsin Public Media, the parent organization of Wisconsin Public Radio and PBS Wisconsin.  Prior to starting that position in 2018, Purcell was the executive director of the Educational Communications Board, which licenses and maintains the network of public radio and TV stations in the state.
