Payments Will Continue

Governor Tony Evers’ veto of a bill to end federal jobless benefits will stand.

Wisconsin Assembly Republicans failed today in an attempt to override the governor’s veto, falling short of the two-thirds majority needed.  Opponents to maintaining the 300-dollars-a-week supplement from the federal government say it is an incentive not to work.  Supporters say it is money needed by Wisconsin families and ends up going back into the Wisconsin economy.  The payments are scheduled to stop in early September.
