The bishop of the Diocese of La Crosse has removed the pastor of St. James the Less Church effective immediately.
Bishop William Callahan asked the Reverend James Altman to resign in May but the priest refused. The bishop made the decision to remove Altman as pastor after he continued to make divisive comments about the pandemic and politics.
