Gov. Evers Looks to Hold On to WI Enhanced Benefits

People on unemployment in Wisconsin will almost certainly collect larger checks until September.

Governor Tony Evers said on UPFRONT on Milwaukee TV over the weekend that he will likely veto the legislation that would remove the state from the enhanced federal unemployment program. Republicans and business groups in the state say the extra 300 dollars a-week that the program provides is enough money to keep many workers at home. The governor says he hasn’t seen the data to back-up the claim, and he doesn’t want to cut-off valuable help to people in the state.
