The push is on to reduce residential speed limits in the city of Madison.
City leaders want to reduce the number of traffic deaths and say dropping the speed limit to 20 miles an hour would go a long way in doing that. The proposal is called Twenty Is Plenty and cites Triple-A statistics, which show higher speeds increase the chances of death and serious injury in most crashes.
