More witnesses are testifying today in the murder trial of ex-police officer Derek Chauvin, who’s accused of killing George Floyd.
Day seven started off with a motion to squash a subpoena for Morries Hall to testify. Hall, who is currently being held at the Hennepin County Jail on unrelated charges, was in the car with Floyd at the time of his arrest. Hall’s attorneys argue any testimony he would give would incriminate him and he plans to plead the Fifth Amendment. Judge Peter Cahill has asked the prosecution and the defense to draft specific questions for Hall by Thursday. After that, all parties will decide if any of the questions are admissible and not subject to a Fifth Amendment claim
