Daylight Saving time not only means setting clocks ahead an hour this weekend, but taking the time to change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. 

If your home doesn’t have alarms, call your local fire department because many departments will provide an alarm and install it.  Fire data reveals people can cut the risk of dying in a fire by up to one-half if fire and smoke alarms are working in the house.  Fire officials in Wisconsin say families should also know the escape routes from every room in the residence and parents should go over the fire evacuation plan with their kids and babysitters.
