WI Rural Plan Includes High Speed Internet, Funding for Roads

The plan from Governor Evers’ Blue Ribbon Commission on Rural Prosperity includes more taxes and a lot more government spending.

The commission released its 10-recommendation report yesterday. Among the ideas is more investment in high speed internet and roads for rural communities. But the commission also wants to spend more on the arts and to build inclusive communities in rural parts of the state.

To help pay for all of this, commission members want to allow local communities to raise local taxes more easily, as well as send more money from the Capitol in Madison to smaller communities across the state.
