A traffic stop leads to a chase and eventual arrest.
Troopers with the Wisconsin State Patrol were conducting a traffic stop on Clairemont Ave near Highway 312, in relation to information received about the driver from the Washington County Sheriffs Office and his wellbeing. During the traffic stop, Troopers observed concerning behavior from the driver and placed a Tire Deflation Device in front of the rear tires of the vehicle.
While a Trooper was speaking with the driver, he fled the scene and both rear tires were deflated. A pursuit began eastbound on Clairemont Ave and ultimately onto westbound I-94 from highway 93. The driver subsequently spun out, but regained control of the vehicle and struck a State Patrol cruiser before continuing westbound on I-94. The driver exited the interstate at highway 37 and came to a stop, where he was taken into custody without incident. The incident is still under investigation.
