Lawmakers Needle the Capitol Tree Issue

Two state representatives say not having a holiday tree in the Capitol rotunda denies Wisconsin kids of an annual tradition.

Governor Tony Evers had decided against a tree at the Capitol because the building is closed to the public due to COVID-19.  Republican Representatives Paul Tittl and Shae Sortwell decided to defy the governor’s wishes and put up an artificial tree late last week.  They said today, kids across Wisconsin can make their ornaments and send them to Madison to decorate the tree, as it is a tradition.
