Marijuana Gets Green Light in Madison

Marijuana possession and use is now in effect in the city of Madison with a few conditions.

The new city ordinance that went into effect yesterday says having up to an ounce of pot is now allowed.  The ordinance lets people smoke marijuana in homes and in public places such as city sidewalks but not on state property such as the Capitol and UW-Madison campus.

Smoking pot isn’t permitted within a thousand feet of a school or on a school bus nor anywhere tobacco smoking is prohibited.
