Wisconsin’s governor has won the latest round in the fight over his face mask requirement.
A judge in St. Croix County yesterday ruled that the governor’s requirement that people wear masks in most places in public can stand. The judge said there is nothing in state law that stops the governor from ordering that masks be worn, and there is nothing that stops him from renewing that order. The judge did say, however, that Wisconsin lawmakers can overrule the governor at any point.
On the state level, political play continues.
Wisconsin’s governor says if lawmakers are going to vote down his order that limits crowds across the state, then they need to get on with it. Governor Tony Evers yesterday wrote a letter to top Republicans inviting them to either vote down his order now, or go on the record that they will vote down the order soon. The governor says he is bothered that Republicans yesterday talked about voting down the crowd limit order after Election Day. The governor says voters in the state deserve to know where Republicans stand on the issue.
