WI COVID-19 Hospitalizations Up, Overflow Area Set to Open

The number of people in the hospital in Wisconsin with the coronavirus is at an all time high. The Department of Health Services yesterday reported 950 hospitalizations. Of them, 240 people are in the ICU.

DHS yesterday reported nine new deaths to bring the state’s coronavirus death toll to 14-hundred-74 since March. DHS says it is mostly people over 60 who are dying from the virus. The state is not saying who is among the new wave of people in the hospital with the virus.

However, details are still sparse on the overflow hospital.

It remains to be seen just how many people will end-up in Wisconsin’s field hospital at the state fairgrounds. The Wisconsin National Guard is opening the hospital that was built back in the spring for the first time this week. The plan is to accept 50 patients. The hospital has room for more than 500 people.

No one is saying if any or all the patients will arrive tomorrow, or where they will come from.
