President Trump is on his way to the hospital. Trump boarded Marine One at the White House wearing a mask and will make his way to Walter Reed medical center.
NBC News tweeted that the President got on the aircraft under his own power. This comes after he tested positive for the coronavirus. As expected, President Trump’s planned visit to Rock County this weekend is canceled.
The President and First Lady both tested positive last night for COVID-19 and are quarantining at the White House. The President was scheduled in Janesville and Green Bay tomorrow but all appearances have been postponed indefinitely. The President may hold some events virtually in the coming days.
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is sending his prayers for the health and safety of President Trump and the First Lady after they tested positive for COVID-19.
Speaking in Grand Rapids, Biden said he took two coronavirus tests this morning to make sure he was clear before attending the campaign event in Michigan. Biden said “this is not a matter of politics” and called it a “bracing reminder” to all of us that we take this virus serious. He said COVID-19 is not going away automatically so we must follow the science, wear masks and practice social distancing.
Biden said we can save 100-thousand lives in the next 100 days if everyone wears a mask in public. He said this is about being patriotic, “not about being a tough guy.” Biden added that the seriousness of this virus underscores the need for widespread, rapid testing and mask mandates.
