A surge in Wisconsin’s COVID-19 cases is creating a problem for the state’s hospitals.
State health officials said yesterday Wisconsin is in a crisis with the third-highest positive case rate per capita in the country. That’s up from fourth last week. Health officials said if new cases exceed hospital capacity, the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds site would have to be used as an overflow facility.
This as a University of Wisconsin Health study is trying to identify how many people have coronavirus antibodies.
The antibodies are what determine if a person had coronavirus before, but didn’t show any symptoms. In July, researchers say about two-percent of those tested had coronavirus antibodies. They’re continuing the survey in October.
