Local Campuses Tackle In- Person Classes

One hundred of the nearly 200 people who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus this month in Eau Claire County are tied to UW Eau Claire.

The city-county health department yesterday said half of the new coronavirus positives are either students or faculty members. City-County Health Department Director Lieske Giese says it’s not surprising that more people are testing positive, nor is it surprising that more people are testing positive at the school. UW-Eau Claire on Tuesday said just about one percent of students on campus have tested positive for the virus.

It’s back-to-school at UW-Stout. Students started in-person classes yesterday. There are, of course, new rules because of the coronavirus. Students have to wear masks and keep some social distance. Stout’s Dean of Students Sandi Scott said the school is taking every precaution it can to stop the spread of the virus.
