President Trump to Visit Kenosha

President Trump to Visit Kenosha

No one knows what to expect after President Trump leaves Kenosha.

The president is set to visit the city today. It comes after last week’s violence in Kenosha that left dozens of buildings burned, and two people shot and killed. Governor Evers has made it clear that he does not want the president to come to town, though many local leaders do want the president to visit. The governor says the president’s visit could interrupt Kenosha’s healing.

Illinois Democrats are against the idea of President Trump paying a visit to Kenosha, Wisconsin today.  Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she was concerned about Trump’s visit following the police shooting of Jacob Blake last month.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle called the president’s visit a bad idea, saying she didn’t see how his presence contributes to peace and harmony.  Governor J.B. Pritzker released a statement saying Trump should stay home because he has done nothing but inflame tensions using racism to rally his base.
